2017 Reading List

Halfway through 2016 I started reading…ok listening to audio books as a way to enrich my mind.  I started with the book A Millionaire Mind by Tom Stanley.  In that book, he outlines some of the minds of millionaires and one of the things is reading/increasing knowledge.  Who doesn’t want to be a millionaire and very knowledgeable? So, from August 2016 through the end of that year I listed to nine books, which going from one maybe two in previous years was a big thing.

At the start of 2017 in a resolution type of way, I wanted to do better than 2016’s nine books so I put the goal of 20 books.  As I’m typing this blog, I’m finished through 19 books and working on my 20th book, which I’ll finish by years end.

If I’m going to listen to books, I want to gain something from them, so I limited my search to only non-fiction books.  I would mix it up between history, biographies, religion or business books.  By mixing it up it allowed me to keep it fresh and diverse in my subjects.

Living in the Atlanta market, my public library subscribes to the Over Drive app which I HIGHLY recommend searching and using if you can.  Through my library, I can find and “checkout” these audio books to play on my phone or other devices all free! I love being frugal so finding these books on Over Drive is awesome.  I know other people use Audible but when I looked it seemed to be 2 books a month and there would be times when I traveled a lot and would listen to 3-4 books a month so using Over Drive allowed me to download several books a month.

Please leave me a comment for book recommendations that are non-fiction of course to add to my reading list for 2018.  Below are the books that I’ve read/listened the past 16 months. If I had to suggest two for you, I would encourage you to read Shoe Dog & Outliers as they were my favorites.
